Beheira: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly emphasized the strong focus by the state and its institutions on the petroleum sector, highlighting ongoing efforts to attract further investment through incentives and facilitations, particularly in exploration and production activities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly made these remarks during an inspection tour of natural gas production sites in the West Delta Deep region operated by Rashid Petroleum Company. The visit was part of his itinerary to Beheira governorate, where he reviewed several development and service projects.
Madbouly accentuated efforts to leverage Egypt's advanced energy infrastructure, aligning with the strategic aim of establishing Egypt as a regional energy hub. Upon arrival, he was met by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, alongside senior officials and representatives from international partner companies such as Shell, Petronas, and KUFPEC.
Badawi noted that the West Delta Deep area stands as a significant offshore natural gas production region in the Mediterranean, exemplifying a successful partnership between Egypt's petroleum sector and international investors. He mentioned that recent reforms and investment incentives, along with government measures to settle arrears to foreign partners, have rejuvenated investor confidence and expedited development and production plans.
In 2024 and 2025, the 10th and 11th phases of development projects were completed in the region, introducing new production capacities to bolster domestic supply and offset natural production declines. Badawi also highlighted the increased momentum in drilling, development, and exploration activities, driven by renewed investor confidence.
The Minister stressed that Egypt's advanced infrastructure for gas production and processing offers a competitive edge, facilitating reduced development costs and quicker integration of discoveries into production networks. The West Delta Deep area, he remarked, is well-positioned to incorporate new gas volumes swiftly.
During the visit, Madbouly engaged with representatives of international companies operating in Egypt's petroleum sector to discuss their activities and future investment plans. Shell Egypt CEO Dalia el Gabry provided an overview of Shell's operations, reaffirming the company's commitment to sustainable energy supplies and cooperation with the Ministry of Petroleum.
Petronas Egypt CEO Hani Ismat spoke on the company's partnership with Shell in offshore gas production and expressed interest in expanding investments in Egypt's gas sector. KUFPEC Regional Manager Abdel Aziz Al-Mousawi detailed the company's investment portfolio in Egypt and expressed pride in contributing to the development of the West Mina gas field.
Madbouly also took the opportunity to meet with young engineers at the facility, expressing gratitude for their crucial role in managing energy infrastructure that supports national gas supply security and impacts the lives of millions of citizens daily.
