PM Follows Up on Key North Coast Projects “Ras El Hekma” and “Shams El Hekma”

Cairo: Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting to review the progress of the "Ras El Hekma" and "Shams El Hekma" projects on the North Coast. Madbouly emphasized the strategic importance of these projects for driving development, enhancing Egypt's global tourism standing in the Mediterranean, and creating new job opportunities for Egyptian youth. He stressed the government's commitment to resolving all procedural challenges to ensure the projects meet international standards. The ministers of transport, irrigation, local development, and housing attended the meeting, along with Governor of Matrouh Mohamed Al-Zamloot, and a host of senior officials from relevant bodies.

According to Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el-Homsani, the meeting addressed the land handover process for Ras El Hekma. To date, 13,800 feddans have been officially delivered, with procedures underway for an additional 5,400 feddans and 20,800 feddans to be handed over to the project company. Madbouly also followed up on the disbursement of compensation to residents for lands, buildings, and crops.

As for the implementation status of the projects, the developer is finalizing a hotel scheduled to open this summer. Work is also progressing on villas, perimeter fencing, and main utilities around the site boundaries, the spokesman noted. In the "Shams El Hekma" area, Homsani highlighted progress on the urgent phase for alternative housing. He said infrastructure and roadwork have been completed across several sectors designated for local families, covering areas of 250, 300, and 200 feddans.

As regards progress on Shams El Hekma projects, the spokesman said that electrical works and street lighting in the urgent phases were completed, citing the operational launch of an experimental school for the 2026 academic year. The meeting also reviewed the progress on the southern alternative area for tribes - south of the high-speed rail - which features residential, service, and investment zones.
