PM Chairs Supreme Council of Energy Meeting to Assess Energy Supply Status

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of Energy to assess the current status of energy supplies, which include electricity, petroleum products, and natural gas. The supplies are secured in coordination with various ministries to ensure uninterrupted services for productive sectors amidst regional and international challenges.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by high-ranking officials including Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir, and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam. Other notable attendees were Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad, and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, among others.

Spokesperson for the Cabinet, Mohamed el Homsany, stated that the meeting reaffirmed the government's ongoing efforts to meet the energy needs of national and investment projects. This is aimed at ensuring sustainability and maximizing production capacities. The Council underscored the importance of securing energy for industrial projects as a means to drive economic growth.

The discussions at the meeting focused on providing energy for various industrial activities within a strategy aimed at supporting the localization of modern industry and technology transfer. This is in line with sustainable development plans. The provision of energy for the production sector aims to attract foreign investments, enhance national exports, provide jobs, and improve human resource efficiency through training.

The Council also highlighted the importance of maximizing returns by increasing reliance on renewable energy and reducing fossil fuel consumption, in accordance with the national energy mix strategy.
