The visit was scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, with the primary aim of evaluating the Authority's significant efforts in implementing large-scale strategic land reclamation projects and exploring future collaborative opportunities between Egypt and Sudan in agriculture and sustainable development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit underscored the strong fraternal ties between the two nations and their shared vision for sustainable development and food security. These efforts are aligned with the broader state vision to enhance productivity, sustainability, and national economic resilience.
Minister Sewilam highlighted a major national achievement, the New Delta Agricultural Drainage Water Treatment Plant, which stands as the largest of its kind globally, with a treatment capacity of up to 7.5 million cubic meters per day. He emphasized the project's pivotal role, alongside the New Delta initiative, in advancing sustainable development goals and bolstering Egypt's food security.
The visit concluded with a field tour of the New Delta project, where the ministers reviewed cultivation areas for wheat, potatoes, and fruits. They received detailed briefings on the advanced agricultural technologies employed to rationalize water consumption and maximize yields. The tour also included the grain silos complex at the Future of Egypt Industrial City, boasting a total storage capacity of 500,000 tons, operated through a fully integrated, state-of-the-art control system to preserve strategic reserves, reduce losses, and support environmental sustainability. Additionally, the delegation visited the cold storage complex dedicated to the handling and preservation of agricultural products following the highest international standards.
