Alexandria: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh emphasized the necessity of advancing the technical capabilities of the General Organization for Export and Import Control's laboratories to elevate investor confidence and enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian exports. This came to light during a meeting with several House of Representatives members in Alexandria, which was also attended by Alexandria Governor Ayman Attia. The meeting followed an inspection tour at Dekheila Port, including visits to testing yards and technical laboratories managed by the authority.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Farid highlighted that Egypt is equipped with advanced infrastructure and skilled human resources operating under the highest international standards. However, the challenge remains in effectively marketing these capabilities both locally and internationally. To address this, Farid has directed the preparation of promotional materials in Arabic, English, and French to be distributed by Egyptian commercial representation offices overseas.
Furthermore, Minister Farid extended an invitation to parliamentarians to visit investment zones and review ongoing projects. This initiative aims to foster communication between the executive and legislative branches and enhance efforts to attract investments.
Governor Ayman Attia pointed out that many tests previously conducted abroad are now being efficiently performed within Egypt, adhering to international accreditation standards. This development not only reduces costs but also bolsters Egypt's position as a regional hub for testing services.
Members of parliament commended the significant advancements in the testing and laboratory ecosystem. They affirmed that these improvements reflect the state's investments in technical infrastructure, enhance external market confidence in Egyptian products, and are vital to supporting national economic competitiveness and increasing exports.
