Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli met with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to review the latest developments regarding the integration of Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) into Egypt’s national natural gas network. This initiative aims to enhance energy security and meet the increasing demand during the summer season.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Badawi highlighted the progress made in preparing the floating regasification units stationed at Egyptian ports. These units play a crucial role in receiving, regasifying, and injecting imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) directly into the national grid, thereby supporting power plants and other essential sectors.
Badawi assured that all relevant national entities and companies are collaborating to ensure the security and sustainability of natural gas supplies across various state sectors in the country. He also mentioned that petroleum sector companies have completed all necessary works, preparations, and technical tests ahead of schedule at the marine berths of Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) and Sonker ports in Ain Sokhna. This preparation is crucial for accommodating the floating units effectively.
The meeting also addressed the procedures for supplying natural gas to power generation stations nationwide to prevent electricity outages. Badawi confirmed the stability of natural gas supplies through the national network, emphasizing that it meets the needs of the electricity sector and other vital sectors.
