FM Underscores Depth of Egypt-US Strategic Partnership

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, highlighting the depth and breadth of bilateral relations across all fields.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, Abdelatty stressed that economic, trade, and investment cooperation constitutes a central pillar of the partnership, noting that attracting US investment remains a top priority for the Egyptian government.

The meeting was attended by AmCham Chairman Omar Mehanna, political and parliamentary figures, members of the foreign diplomatic corps, and representatives of the Egyptian-American business community.

Abdelatty outlined promising investment opportunities in sectors such as new and renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and information technology. He affirmed the government's readiness to work closely with US companies, facilitate their operations in the Egyptian market, and provide support to expand their investments.

The minister also highlighted the structural measures and institutional reforms adopted by the Egyptian state to improve the investment climate, empower the private sector, and create a competitive environment for investors.

On regional developments, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the flow of humanitarian assistance, and advance a political settlement to the Palestinian issue.

He stressed the need for early recovery and reconstruction steps, calling for international efforts to implement the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza and expedite the formation of an international stabilization force.

The top diplomat also pointed to preparations for Egypt's hosting of the international conference on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

On water security, the minister reaffirmed that the River Nile is Egypt's lifeline, stressing the country's commitment to cooperation with fellow Nile Basin states on the basis of mutual benefit.

He reiterated rejection of unilateral measures in the Eastern Nile that contravene international law, adding that Egypt will take actions guaranteed by the UN Charter and international law to safeguard its water security.

Abdelatty further reviewed Egypt's positions on the crises in Sudan, Libya, and the Red Sea, as well as the Iranian nuclear file, emphasizing the country's efforts to advance regional security and stability and support political and diplomatic solutions.

He underlined the importance of restoring stability in the Red Sea region in light of recent developments affecting maritime navigation, global trade, and supply chains, noting that maintaining safe passage through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal is a shared international interest.

At the end of the meeting, the minister took part in an interactive discussion with AmCham members on geopolitical challenges in the Middle East and Egypt's perspective on ongoing regional developments.
