Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's full support for the territorial unity of Palestinian lands in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the importance of restoring all legitimate rights of the Palestinians, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting with Jibril Rajoub, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Palestinian Fatah movement, to discuss developments in the West Bank and Gaza. The discussions included an overview of the latest ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the enclave.
Abdelatty stressed the international community's duty to address the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and to halt Israel's ongoing aggression against the region. He also announced Egypt's plans to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, in collaboration with the United Nations and the Palestinian government, contingent on reaching a ceasefire agreement.
"This initiative aligns with Egypt's steadfast support of the Palestinian people and its commitment to providing comprehensive humanitarian and relief assistance to Palestinians in Gaza," Abdelatty stated. He also listened to Rajoub's insights on the situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and his perspective on the prospects for implementing the two-state solution.
Rajoub expressed appreciation for Egypt's support of Palestinians, particularly its mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid.
