Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has lauded the historic role of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization (AAPSO). The minister pointed out that the AAPSO serves as a platform for strengthening solidarity among African and Asian nations and supporting their shared struggle for sovereignty and development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty's remarks came during a meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy and former foreign minister and AAPSO President Mohamed El-Orabi. The meeting reviewed the organization's recent activities following El-Orabi's appointment, reflecting confidence in Egypt's leading role in advancing Afro-Asian cooperation. Discussions also focused on ways to enhance the organization's contributions to development issues, poverty reduction, and the promotion of peace and security.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of coordination among national institutions to support the organization's work, particularly in areas such as development, human rights, and peaceful dialogue. For her part, Morsy affirmed the ministry's readiness to support the organization's programs, especially in social and humanitarian fields, and to strengthen cooperation with civil society to advance sustainable development goals.
El-Orabi praised Egypt's continued support, pledging to expand the organization's activities and reinforce its role as a platform for Afro-Asian and Global South solidarity.
