Nouakchott: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty highlighted the potential benefits that Egyptian companies could bring to Mauritania through their extensive expertise, substantial workforce, and significant technical capabilities. Abdelatty delivered these remarks during the inaugural ceremony of the Egyptian-Mauritanian Economic Forum, which took place in Nouakchott under the theme "Promoting trade and investment cooperation between both countries."
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty expressed optimism that the forum would mark the beginning of strengthened economic collaboration, an increase in bilateral trade exchange, and enhanced economic partnerships between the business communities of Egypt and Mauritania. He conveyed his hope that the forum would motivate Egyptian companies to explore opportunities within the Mauritanian market and play a significant role in development activities in Mauritania, fostering mutual interests.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of holding the forum annually alongside the Egyptian-Mauritanian joint committee, whose second session was also convened in Nouakchott on Tuesday, marking the first meeting since 2006. The forum's significance in reinforcing economic ties between the two countries was a focal point of his address.
Notable attendees at the forum's opening session included Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, Minister of Petroleum and Energy Mohamed Ould Khaled, and Minister of Trade and Tourism Zainab bint Ahmednah, along with numerous senior officials from relevant bodies in both nations.
