FM Outlines Vision for Enhanced European Investment in Egypt

Brussels: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed aspiration to attract more European investments, facilitate access of Egyptian exports to European markets, and strengthen private-sector partnerships between the Egyptian and European sides. He made the remarks on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, during a meeting with former President of the European Council Charles Michel. The two sides discussed means of promoting relations as well as the latest regional developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, Abdelatty praised the convening of the first Egypt-EU Summit, held in Brussels on October 22, which reflected common interest in bolstering the strategic and comprehensive partnership signed in March 2024. The two sides exchanged views on a number of regional issues, topped by the developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to uphold the ceasefire agreement in accordance with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement, stressing the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on Gaza, enabling the International Stabilization Force to carry out its mandate, and ensuring the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid.

He emphasized the importance of coming up with a political horizon that meets the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, topped by their right to self-determination, noting that the two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state constitute the fundamental basis for achieving stability in the region. The meeting also included a review of developments in Sudan and Syria, as well as the Iranian nuclear file. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region.
