FM Engages with Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Advisor on Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Cairo: In continuation of his meetings on the sidelines of the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, met with Mr. Touhid Hossain, Foreign Affairs Advisor in Bangladesh. Minister Abdelatty expressed the appreciation of the Egyptian side for the historical relationship between Egypt and Bangladesh, emphasizing the significance of a recent visit by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, to Egypt. This visit, and the bilateral meeting held with the President of the Republic during the summit of the Group of Eight Developing Countries for Economic Cooperation, marked the beginning of a new phase of cooperation and coordination between the two nations.According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty focused on enhancing economic and commercial relations between Egypt and Bangladesh. He highlighted the potential for increased investment exchanges through cooperation on major projects and supporting partnerships between businesspeople from both countries. The Minister reviewed Egypt's efforts towards sustainable development via major infrastructure projects and the promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian economy. He expressed a desire to broaden bilateral cooperation, particularly in health, tourism, and agriculture, alongside enhancing cultural and scientific collaboration.The meeting also covered Egypt and Bangladesh's stances on counter-terrorism. Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's pivotal role in combating terrorism regionally and internationally by adopting a comprehensive strategy, underscoring the significant role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in promoting tolerance and moderation. On the rapid developments in the Middle East, the Minister expressed Egypt's deep concern, reiterating warnings about the risks of further escalation. He stressed the need for political solutions and diplomatic negotiations as the optimal path towards a permanent settlement, ensuri ng security and stability for the region's peoples.
