Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, that the Foreign Ministry continues to leverage Egypt's international partnerships and diplomatic network to strengthen economic and development cooperation with countries and international institutions, thus supporting the government's efforts to attract investment, mobilize development finance and secure technical assistance for priority projects.According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom as part of ongoing coordination between the two ministries to advance Egypt's economic development agenda and enhance cooperation across government institutions in support of the country's sustainable development goals and long-term development vision.The two ministers discussed ways to deepen institutional cooperation to improve the implementation of development programs and proj ects, channel available resources toward priority sectors, and expand cooperation with international financial institutions and development partners.They also reviewed mechanisms to maximize the use of available financing and technical assistance to support Egypt's economic and social development plans.Abdelatty outlined the Foreign Ministry's efforts to expand Egyptian exports into international markets and support the government's drive to empower the private sector and increase its contribution to economic growth by promoting investment opportunities and encouraging partnerships with international investors.He said those efforts would strengthen the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and reinforce the confidence of development partners and international financial institutions in the country's economic reform program.For his part, Rostom reviewed the ministry's priorities for improving the efficiency of public spending and investment while strengthening development-focused planning to maximize the economic and social returns of government projects.He also praised the Foreign Ministry's role in promoting international cooperation and coordinating with development partners, stressing the importance of continued joint efforts to maximize the benefits of international financing initiatives and programs, ease financing burdens and support the state's objective of achieving sustainable and inclusive economic growth in line with Egypt Vision 2030.The two ministers also exchanged views on the growing economic impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East. Abdelatty warned that continued regional instability was disrupting global supply chains, driving up transport, insurance and energy costs, and weighing on global growth, investment and trade, with developing countries and economies most exposed to global volatility bearing the greatest impact.
