Egypt’s Mufti Commends Uzbekistan’s Showcasing of Islamic Heritage at Tashkent Forum

Tashkent: Egypt's Mufti and Secretary General of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, praised Uzbekistan's efforts to emphasize its rich Islamic heritage during the First International Islamic Forum held at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent. He lauded the country's dedication to organizing events that highlight the scholarly and civilizational contributions of notable Muslim figures, including Imam AlBukhari.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ayyad emphasized the significance of Uzbekistan's initiatives, deeming them "worthy of the highest appreciation and praise" for their role in promoting civilizational awareness and presenting a true image of Islam. He remarked on Islamic civilization as a comprehensive project that blends humanity's development with moral and scientific advancement, offering a balanced approach to life and the universe.

Addressing the forum, the Grand Mufti highlighted the Islamic vision of civilization, which values beauty in both outward and inward human dimensions, and promotes harmony between moral values and scientific progress. He noted that Islamic civilization encourages intellectual inquiry, rejects superstition, and links material and moral advancements, achieving a balance that other civilizations have struggled to maintain.

Ayyad also stressed the importance of reason and understanding in Islamic civilization, promoting global values of tolerance, peace, and mercy. He affirmed its humanitarian outlook, emphasizing unity among diverse ethnicities and the consistent upholding of noble ethical principles across various domains.

He concluded that Islamic civilization's dedication to love, peace, and tolerance has laid the foundation for social stability and equality, advocating for justice without sectarian bias. Ayyad underscored the Egyptian state's commitment to these values, highlighting initiatives by the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide to advance tolerance and peace through centers like the Peace Center and the Global Fatwa Index.
