Cairo: Egypt's engineering industries sector is witnessing promising investment opportunities, as highlighted by Industry Minister Khaled Hashim. The minister, speaking at the 5th edition of the Engineering Export Excellence Awards (EXXA), emphasized the availability of raw materials and skilled labor as crucial factors driving the expansion of exports and facilitating access to new international markets.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the EXXA event, sponsored by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, serves as a platform to celebrate outstanding exporters and motivate companies to enhance the global reach of Egyptian products. Awards were distributed in six categories: top young exporter, local manufacturing, export innovation, export success story, green manufacturing, and artificial intelligence in manufacturing.
The variety of award categories, as noted by Minister Hashim, underscores the capability of Egyptian industry to align with global manufacturing trends. This adaptability is crucial, given that engineering industries are one of the seven priority sectors identified in Egypt's Industrial Strategy 2030.
Meanwhile, Sherif El-Sayyad, chairman of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, reported that the sector continues to show robust export growth, despite facing regional and economic challenges. Engineering exports increased to approximately $2.5 billion during January-April 2026, up from about $2.1 billion during the same period the previous year, marking a growth of nearly 20%.
