Cairo: Egypt's Healthcare Authority (EHA) Head, Ahmed El-Sobky, recently met with Huawei's First Vice President and CEO of Global Public Business to evaluate the progress made since the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in China last April, as reported by the Cabinet.
According to State Information Service Egypt, discussions between the two parties focused on plans to establish a national center dedicated to health data science and artificial intelligence applications. This center aims to serve as a hub for innovative technology solutions in the healthcare sector.
El-Sobky highlighted that the authority currently oversees more than 6 million electronic medical records and manages half a billion AI-supported digital radiology images, reflecting the advanced digital transformation taking place within Egypt's healthcare system.
The collaboration also seeks to promote a green digital transformation by implementing energy-efficient smart systems and intelligent monitoring applications. These efforts are designed to optimize resource management, contributing to both environmental and economic sustainability.
Huawei's First Vice President, Wind Li Junfeng, expressed commitment to enhancing Egypt's digital healthcare landscape. The plans include the creation of the region's first smart medical cities, utilizing AI and IoT technologies to improve healthcare services across the country.
