Egyptian and Angolan Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and AU-EU Summit Preparations

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation with Angolan Minister of External Relations Tete Ant³nio to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf stated that Abdelatty praised the growing momentum in Egyptian-Angolan relations and commended both sides' commitment to further enhance cooperation in political, economic, trade, and investment sectors.

The minister stressed the importance of boosting trade with Angola and encouraged Egyptian businessmen and companies to increase their presence in the Angolan market, building on existing partnerships. He also underlined opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, energy, and telecommunications projects, noting the expertise of leading Egyptian companies in implementing major projects across several African countries. Abdelatty further commended Angola's active role as chair of the African Union, leading continental initiatives during a critical period marked by challenges to peace, security, and development.

He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to close coordination with Angola within the African Union and other regional and international organizations to advance African priorities, serve shared interests, and continue mutual support for various nominations. The ministers also discussed preparations for the European Union-African Union summit, scheduled for November 24-25 in Luanda, Angola. Both underlined the importance of ensuring the summit's success and achieving outcomes that serve Africa's interests. They stressed the need to strengthen the continent's capacity to address complex challenges, particularly in peace and security, counter-terrorism, and sustainable, inclusive development.
