Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome Hosts Event Celebrating Grand Egyptian Museum Opening

Rome: The Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, under the leadership of its director Rania Yehia, has orchestrated a cultural event to commemorate the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). This event is part of the Ministry of Culture's celebrations and aims to strengthen cultural ties between Egypt and Italy.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the academy welcomed Professor Alessandro Roccati, a highly respected figure in the field of Egyptology, to partake in the initiative titled 'Eight Weeks on Ancient Egyptian Civilization.' This initiative was spearheaded by Yehia to delve deeper into the rich history of ancient Egyptian culture.

In his address, Professor Roccati reminisced about the first lecture he delivered at the Academy four decades ago, during the period when Farouk Hosny, the former Minister of Culture, served as the Director of the Academy. Roccati expressed his appreciation to Yehia for the invitation to return and share his insights once more.

During the event, Roccati explored the evolution of writing in ancient Egypt, from Demotic script to Coptic writing. He also emphasized the longstanding historical connections that have existed between Egypt and Italy, underscoring the cultural bonds that continue to unite the two nations.
