Egypt: Egypt will increase the minimum wage to 8,000 EGP per month from July, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Madbouly said the government had approved a 1,000 EGP increase in the minimum wage as part of measures included in the next fiscal year's state budget.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the wage bill for the 2026/27 fiscal year would rise by 21%, marking a significant increase in recent years. Madbouly highlighted this adjustment during a weekly cabinet press conference and further elaborated on the government's commitment to regular salary increments.
He stated that periodic salary increments would continue at a rate of 15%, with additional exceptional increases allocated to teachers and healthcare workers. Madbouly also noted that these planned wage and salary increases were incorporated into the state's general budget for the fiscal year beginning in July 2026.
