Cairo: Egypt, represented by the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), is participating remotely in the Inclusive Africa Conference 2025, held from June 3 to 5 in Nairobi, Kenya, as per an official statement. The first day of the conference will be streamed live from NAID’s headquarters in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital, in cooperation with the Engineers for a Sustainable Egypt Foundation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the conference is organized under the theme “Scaling Digital Accessibility through Innovation and Entrepreneurship.” It aims to improve digital accessibility for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and advance assistive technology across the African continent. The event seeks to engage African youth with disabilities by providing a platform for disability rights advocates and support groups from various regions of Africa.
The conference promotes the sharing of regional and international best practices in implementing accessibility standards, cultivating accessibility ambassadors, and developing accessible ICT solutions to empower PwDs in the digital economy. It is designed to explore effective strategies for expanding access to digital products and services in Africa and aims to raise public awareness of the rights and needs of PwDs regarding access to digital information.
Additionally, the event will spotlight innovations in assistive technology emerging from Africa. It will serve as a platform for sharing expertise in product design, market access, mentorship, and funding opportunities, thereby contributing to the empowerment of persons with disabilities through digital means.
