Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Jason Isaacson, director of policy at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), to discuss efforts focused on stabilizing Gaza amidst Israel's ongoing conflict and the implementation of recent security and political agreements.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions emphasized the Egypt-US partnership and their ongoing coordination to achieve regional stability. Abdelatty outlined Egypt's diplomatic initiatives aimed at advancing President Trump's plan and the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement, advocating for international pressure to ensure the execution of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2803. This includes the swift deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of forming a Palestinian technocratic committee to manage Gaza as part of the next phase of the agreement. He stressed the necessity of guaranteeing humanitarian access to Gaza, noting the worsening conditions and the urgent need for reconstructing essential infrastructure.
Furthermore, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's stance that a lasting settlement requires a two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Isaacson, as reported by the ministry, commended Egypt's efforts in maintaining the ceasefire and its broader role in ensuring regional security.
