Cairo: The Cabinet congratulated Dr Yasmine Fouad, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, after her selection for the 2025 Nobel Sustainability Prize in the "Leadership in Implementation" category. The Nobel Sustainability Fund recognized her leading role during her tenure as Minister of Environment and her efforts in steering environmental action on both national and international levels.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Cabinet stated that this nomination is further proof of the achievements of Egyptian women, supported by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's trust in their abilities, which has enabled them to achieve breakthrough results recognized internationally. This prestigious award, given to Egypt's former Minister of Environment, highlights the contributions of the Egyptian state in recent years and its influential role in supporting environmental and climate action efforts.
The Cabinet noted that Dr Yasmine Fouad's selection for the 2025 Nobel Sustainability Prize underscores her significant contributions in her current UN post. It extended congratulations to her and expressed hopes for her continued success and further international accomplishments.
