Washington: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi engaged in discussions with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to explore avenues for strengthening energy cooperation between Egypt and the United States.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, which took place in Washington and was attended by Egyptian ambassador Motaz Zahran along with officials from both countries, highlighted the robust relationship between Egypt and the US. The discussions emphasized the importance of broadening cooperation to attract US investments and bolster energy security.Both parties reviewed existing collaborations in the energy sector, including projects with major companies such as Apache, Chevron, and ExxonMobil. The dialogue also focused on joint ventures in liquefied natural gas and progress on integrating Cypriot gas fields with Egypt's infrastructure for transportation and re-export, with specific reference to developments concerning the Aphrodite field managed by Chevron.The tal ks further explored opportunities for deepening cooperation in refining, petrochemicals, and value-added industries. Discussions also included initiatives on sustainable aviation fuel projects with Honeywell, as well as potential partnerships in renewable energy, carbon reduction, and the mining of critical minerals.
