Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Saturday with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which they stressed the need for collective efforts to prevent further escalation in the region and support de-escalation through political and diplomatic channels.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers affirmed that continued coordination is essential to contain tensions and protect regional security and stability. They also discussed bilateral relations, affirming their shared interest in advancing cooperation between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
The call addressed developments in Gaza, with both sides underlining the need to implement the second phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan. They discussed supporting the national committee for administering Gaza, deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and moving toward early recovery and reconstruction while maintaining the unity of Palestinian territories.
Additionally, the duo reviewed preparations for the upcoming Peace Council meeting, with emphasis on continued Arab and Islamic coordination to support calm and stability.
