Cairo: The Foreign Ministers of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the State of Qatar have jointly condemned the Israeli Parliament’s recent enactment of a law permitting the imposition of the death penalty in the occupied West Bank, specifically targeting Palestinians.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Ministers issued a strong warning against what they describe as increasingly discriminatory practices by Israel. These practices, they argue, contribute to an apartheid system and a narrative that denies the rights and existence of Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The Ministers highlighted the dangers posed by this legislation, particularly its discriminatory application against Palestinian prisoners. They noted that such measures could escalate tensions and destabilize the region. The Ministers also voiced concern over the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention, citing credible reports of abuses, torture, and the denial of basic rights.
The statement from the Ministers reaffirms their stance against Israel’s policies, which they view as racially discriminatory and aggressive towards Palestinians. They called for an immediate halt to any measures that could further inflame tensions and emphasized the necessity of accountability and international efforts to maintain stability and prevent further deterioration of the situation.
