Egypt and Italy Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest regional developments.According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian foreign minister praised the relations between Egypt and Italy, affirming Egypt's commitment to enhancing all aspects of bilateral ties and expanding them to broader horizons. Abdelatty expressed a desire to continue supporting economic and investment relations with Italy and boosting trade exchange between the two nations.The two ministers exchanged views on the evolving regional developments. Abdelatty briefed Tajani on Egypt's efforts to de-escalate tensions in coordination with regional and international partners. He emphasized the importance of supporting US-Iran negotiations and ongoing efforts to reach a political settle ment, stressing the need for intensified efforts to consolidate the ceasefire, end the war, and ease regional tensions.The call also covered developments in the Gaza Strip, where Abdelatty highlighted that regional escalation should not overshadow the need to fulfill the second phase of the US plan. This includes deploying an international stabilization force, ensuring humanitarian aid delivery, and launching recovery and reconstruction programs.Regarding Lebanon, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's supportive stance toward Lebanon, rejecting any infringement on its sovereignty or territorial integrity. He stressed the necessity for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories and the comprehensive implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani praised Egypt's constructive role in de-escalating regional tensions. The two ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultations, emphasizing that diplomatic solutions remain the best option for ensuring regional and global security and stability.
