Cairo: Secretary-General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities Mohamed Ismail Khaled and Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum Louis Ng have signed a cooperation agreement to organize a major temporary exhibition titled "Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums." This exhibition is set to take place at the Hong Kong Palace Museum from November 18, 2025, to August 31, 2026.According to State Information Service Egypt, the signing ceremony was held in Hong Kong and witnessed the presence of senior cultural officials from both Egypt and China. The exhibition will feature approximately 250 artifacts from several Egyptian museums, such as the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art, Suez National Museum, and Sohag National Museum.The exhibition aims to showcase a selection of recently excavated artifacts from the Saqqara archaeological site alongside items presently on display in Shanghai's "At the Summit of the Pyramid: Civilization of Ancient Egypt" exhibition. It will explore three key themes: Royal Egypt, the Era of Tutankhamun, and Archaeological Discoveries from Saqqara.Following the signing ceremony, an international press conference took place, garnering significant attention from media outlets worldwide. Khaled highlighted the exhibition as a cultural gateway to over 5,000 years of Egyptian history and emphasized its role in strengthening cultural ties between Egypt and China.Louis Ng affirmed that this exhibition marks an important milestone in cultural exchange, reflecting both nations' commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue and fostering mutual understanding through cultural initiatives.
