Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized during a phone call on Thursday with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-No«l Barrot the urgent need for the international community to take action to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the conversation also covered recent regional developments and strategies to strengthen the strategic relations between Egypt and France. Foreign ministry spokesman Tamim Khalaf stated that both ministers expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and expanding them in light of their strategic partnership.
Khalaf reported that Abdelatty and Barrot discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, focusing on efforts to resume and maintain a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s intention to host an international conference aimed at early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza upon reaching a ceasefire.
The foreign ministry spokesman added that Abdelatty stressed the critical situation in the West Bank, noting ongoing military raids, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlements. He reiterated the necessity of achieving a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian issue through the two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers agreed on the importance of both Israel and Iran adhering to a ceasefire, urging for combined regional and international efforts to solidify the de-escalation agreement and facilitate diplomatic measures to enhance regional security and stability.
