Cairo: The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) played a key role in attracting more than 250 international importing companies to participate in the Food Africa Exhibition, which was concluded recently in Cairo after four days of strong performance and sustained growth from December 9 to 12. The ECS and its overseas offices were actively involved in promoting and supporting the exhibition at all stages, in coordination with the organizers, business communities, and national entities responsible for developing exports of food industries, agricultural produce, and packaging products.
According to State Information Service Egypt, ECS offices abroad contributed significantly to inviting and facilitating the participation of major international buyers from key target markets for Egyptian agricultural and food exports, while also following up on buyer delegations and visiting companies. Members of the ECS participated through a dedicated pavilion at the exhibition, receiving hundreds of Egyptian companies seeking support in developing and implementing export plans in overseas markets. The ECS also conducted direct follow-ups with visiting importers it had invited, facilitating business meetings with Egyptian companies during and after the exhibition, resulting in promising export opportunities.
Commenting on the outcome, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Abdel Aziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, said that promoting specialized exhibitions held in Egypt and attracting foreign buyer delegations was among the most effective tools for expanding Egyptian exports, as it enabled direct engagement and negotiations between Egyptian companies and major international buyers. He noted that Food Africa concluded its tenth edition with notable growth indicators, becoming the largest in its history, spanning approximately 50,000 square meters and featuring around 1,200 Egyptian exhibitors alongside expanding international participation.
