Baghdad: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced a notable 18.3% increase in Egyptian exports to Iraq in 2024, reaching $816 million compared to $690 million in 2023.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Iraq reached $1.1 billion in 2024, marking a 26.1% increase from $872 million in 2023. The data release coincides with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Baghdad, where he is participating in the 34th regular session of the Arab League Council at the summit level.
The report highlighted that the value of Egyptian imports from Iraq rose to $284 million in 2024, up from $182 million in 2023, reflecting an increase of 56%. This growth underscores the strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
Key commodities exported by Egypt to Iraq in 2024 included fruits and vegetables valued at $168.8 million, electronic devices at $146.7 million, and oil fruits at $72.2 million. These exports have played a significant role in boosting the trade volume.
In terms of investments, Iraq's investments in Egypt reached $3.7 million during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, compared to $1.5 million in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Conversely, Egyptian investments in Iraq recorded $27.4 million in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, slightly down from $29 million in the previous fiscal year.
