Alexandria: Air Cairo has launched a new direct route between Borg El Arab International Airport in Alexandria and the Saudi capital Riyadh, with two weekly flights as demand for travel between Egypt and Saudi Arabia continues to grow.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the inaugural flight departed on Saturday, carrying around 180 passengers. The service will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, providing a direct connection for travelers from Alexandria, the North Coast, and the Nile Delta region to Riyadh.
Hussein Sherif, Chairman and Chief Executive of Air Cairo, stated that the airline expects an increase in passenger traffic on this route in the coming months, which could lead to additional frequencies. He mentioned the possibility of expanding the service to daily flights depending on demand.
The Alexandria-Riyadh route is the latest addition to Air Cairo's network in Saudi Arabia, which the airline considers one of its key markets. Air Cairo, an Egyptian low-cost airline and a subsidiary of the national carrier EgyptAir, has been expanding its regional and international network in recent years. The airline seeks to increase connectivity with major destinations and cater to growing demand for tourism, business travel, and Egyptian communities abroad.
