Rafah: The 108th convoy of humanitarian aid trucks began entering the Gaza Strip on Sunday, January 4, 2026, via the Rafah land port in Egypt's North Sinai governorate, heading toward the Karam Abu Salem crossing, in preparation for entering the enclave.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the 'Zad Al-Izza. from Egypt to Gaza' initiative was launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27. Since then, it has delivered thousands of tons of aid, including food supply chains, flour, infant formula, medical equipment, medicines, and large quantities of fuel.
Since the start of Israel's war on Gaza in October 2023, Egypt has sent more than 780,000 tons of humanitarian aid into the territory through the Rafah and Karam Abu Salem crossings, despite severe access restrictions and ongoing security challenges.
Israeli forces closed the crossings connecting the Gaza Strip since March 2, following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement and the failure to reach an agreement to sustain it. The truce was violated by Israeli airstrikes on March 18, followed by renewed ground incursions into various areas of Gaza from which Israeli forces had previously withdrawn.
