Suez Canal Authority Chairman Welcomes Argentine Ambassador in Cairo

Cairo: Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, welcomed the Argentine Ambassador to Cairo, Holger Martinsen, in a meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. The discussions focused on cooperation and the exchange of expertise, particularly in the economic sector, as both parties expressed a commitment to strengthening ties.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Lieutenant General Rabie highlighted the Suez Canal Authority's dedication to supporting global supply chains amidst current challenges in the Red Sea region. He emphasized the Authority's efforts to broaden its international collaborations and expand its operations in logistics and maritime services by partnering with successful entities. The Authority's subsidiaries and shipyards possess significant expertise in maintaining and constructing marine units using cutting-edge technology.

Ambassador Martinsen expressed gratitude for the diplomatic and popular relations between Egypt and Argentina. He underscored the strategic importance of the Suez Canal to the global maritime community and its irreplaceable role in international trade. Martinsen expressed hope for the restoration of previous navigation rates through the Canal, highlighting the impact of delays when goods are rerouted via the Cape of Good Hope.

The Argentine Ambassador also emphasized the potential for collaboration in areas such as dredging and maritime industries. He mentioned Argentina's advanced systems for early response to maritime emergencies, which could enhance the safety of ships and maritime units.
