Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday made a phone call with Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni to congratulate him on his re-election for a new presidential term. Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said that President Sisi extended congratulations to Museveni for his victory in the presidential elections, which reflects the Ugandan people's confidence in his leadership, noting the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Uganda.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi emphasized Egypt's eagerness to enhance relations with Uganda. This aim is to build on the positive momentum seen in bilateral ties over recent years, as well as on the outcomes of Museveni's visit to Cairo in August 2025.
In response, the Ugandan president expressed appreciation for Sisi's congratulations and highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries. Museveni also extended an invitation for Sisi to visit Uganda soon, the spokesman concluded.
