Sisi, Abbas Stress Total Rejection of Iran’s Attacks on Arab States

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, as they stressed their total rejection of Iran's attacks on Arab states, particularly in light of those countries' positions opposing the war and the efforts they have made to prevent it.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed El-Shennawy said that the two leaders reviewed ongoing regional developments, where President Sisi called for stopping the current escalation and prioritizing peaceful solutions to all crises in the region, in a way that preserves the stability of states and the resources of their peoples.

The pair also warned of the negative impacts of the war on the situation in the region, especially the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, as well as relevant economic consequences.

The spokesman stated that the two presidents addressed the updates of the Palestinian cause, as President Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts, in coordination with mediators and all actors, to ensure the completion of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid for the enclave's residents.

For his part, the Palestinian president expressed his deep appreciation for the endeavors made by Egypt and by President Sisi personally to achieve security and stability in the region, especially Egypt's supportive role for the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to establishing an independent state.

Abbas briefed Sisi on the Palestinian Authority's vision for implementing reforms and achieving the Palestinian reconciliation.
