Cairo:Egypt's State Information Service has published a new book documenting the major national projects undertaken since 2014 across various sectors including transport, infrastructure, technology, tourism, and antiquities.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the book, titled 'The New Republic,' was issued under the direction of Ambassador Alaa Youssef and reviews significant projects completed or developed over the past 12 years. It also outlines the Egyptian government's plans to expand infrastructure and support economic development.

Transport projects feature prominently, detailing developments in roads, railways, monorail lines, metro systems, ports, and logistics networks. Notable projects include the Light Rail Transit system linking Cairo with new cities and the New Administrative Capital, the Sixth of October and East Nile monorail projects, Alexandria Railway Station, and the Upper Egypt Railway Station. Spending on road and bridge projects has exceeded EGP 377 billion since 2014, covering the Middle Ring Road and connections between seaports, dry ports, and logistics centers.

Maritime advancements discussed in the book include the development of Hurghada Port and the New Suez Canal, designed to enhance shipping capacity and reduce transit times for vessels. In civil aviation, the expansion of Hurghada International Airport to handle 13 million passengers annually and the development of Sphinx International Airport, serving western Cairo and tourists to the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, are highlighted.

The book also reviews investments in communications and information technology, with Egypt having invested $6 billion in infrastructure, government service digitization, digital transformation, and skills development. Projects such as Knowledge City in the New Capital and the Our Digital Future initiative, aimed at training 250,000 young Egyptians in technology and digital skills, are included.

In tourism and antiquities, the book covers the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum, with a total cost of $1.2 billion, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which houses over 50,000 artifacts. It also discusses the development of the Imhotep Museum at Saqqara, noting improvements to exhibition halls, restoration facilities, lighting, and visitor services.
