SCZONE Engages with Nanjing Delegation to Boost Investment Cooperation

Cairo: The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) received a high-level delegation from Nanjing, China, to explore avenues for expanding economic cooperation and fostering industrial partnerships. This meeting marked a significant step in strengthening ties between the two regions.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the delegation was led by Zhou Hongbo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China of Jiangsu Province and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee in Nanjing. The group included Zhao Liuqing, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, alongside Nanjing Municipal Government officials, representatives from economic and commercial institutions, and executives from Chinese companies in various sectors such as international trade, logistics, medical industries, and engineering.

The visit was a follow-up to the outcomes of the Nanjing-Cairo Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum held on June 22, 2026. Vice Chairman of SCZONE for the Southern Region, Ahmed Gamal, along with senior officials from the authority, welcomed the delegation. Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in strategic sectors, including new and renewable energy, automotive manufacturing, and medical industries.

Both parties acknowledged the significant growth of Chinese investments within the SCZONE, highlighting the confidence of the Chinese business community in the investment climate offered by the authority. The meeting also examined the competitive advantages of the SCZONE, such as integrated ports and industrial zones, advanced infrastructure, and a streamlined one-stop-shop model that facilitates project implementation.

The discussions emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation to attract more industrial investments and strengthen the economic partnership between Egypt and China.
