New Capital:Mustafa Sheikhoun, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), held a meeting with Panama's Ambassador to Egypt, Ricardo Isaza, to discuss ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between SCZONE and the Panamanian business community.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, which took place at SCZONE's headquarters, focused on strategic partnerships and developments in areas of mutual interest. Sheikhoun emphasized SCZONE's commitment to strengthening ties with Panama, building on an existing successful partnership with Panama's Col³n Free Trade Zone.

The partnership aims to foster sustainable development opportunities, exchange logistics and industrial expertise, and leverage the competitive advantages of both regions. SCZONE acts as a strategic gateway to African and Middle Eastern markets through its ports on the Red Sea and Mediterranean, while Panama offers access to the extensive Latin American market, potentially boosting Egyptian exports and supporting global supply chains in the face of geopolitical challenges.

Ambassador Isaza expressed appreciation for the strong bilateral relations and explained that his visit is part of preparations for Panama's Foreign Minister's forthcoming visit to Egypt. The visit will include a tour of SCZONE to observe its significant development and growth, which have established it as a prominent economic and logistics hub.

The ambassador also extended an invitation to SCZONE's chairman to visit Panama in the first half of the next year to explore new opportunities for partnership and investment integration between the business sectors of both countries.
