Cairo:Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that regulating markets, maintaining price stability, and ensuring the availability of basic commodities remain among the government's top priorities. He underscored the need for intensified market monitoring and firm action against irregular practices to protect citizens' rights.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly made these remarks during a meeting to review preparations for the 'Egypt Forum 2026,' set to take place from October 19 to 24 at the St. Regis Hotel in the New Capital. The forum, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, aims to highlight developments and achievements across various sectors in recent years.
The meeting reviewed the main themes of two forum sessions: 'Egypt's Energy Journey' and 'A More Effective Social Protection System.' Madbouly explained that the forum will provide an opportunity to discuss recent developments, clarify the considerations behind government policies, and outline priorities for the coming period.
Regarding energy, the meeting addressed measures taken to secure the country's energy needs, ensure sustainable supplies, improve energy efficiency, expand renewable energy sources, develop state resources, and attract further investments in the sector. The development of the social protection system was also examined, with a focus on supporting vulnerable groups and ensuring efficient assistance delivery to eligible beneficiaries.
Madbouly stressed the importance of addressing the needs of the middle class and protecting it from the effects of inflation and economic fluctuations. Market regulation was another key topic discussed, with an emphasis on stronger oversight and improved governance in distributing essential and strategic commodities to ensure adequate supplies and stable prices.
He called for transparency in addressing the challenges facing commodity markets and for clear action plans to curb irregular practices, aiming to meet citizens' expectations for a stable and dignified life.
