PM: Tourism Is One of the Most Vital Sectors

Cairo: Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to follow up on a number of work files relating to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, attended by Mr Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Minister Plenipotentiary Amr Abdullah from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs, and several officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The Prime Minister explained that the tourism sector is one of the most vital sectors on which the state relies to achieve its development goals and advance its economic fields. Accordingly, the state aims to bolster the pivotal role of this sector and attract more tourists while ensuring they enjoy a high-quality tourism experience, particularly with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the expected increase in tourist flows.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Tourism Minister said that in order to improve the tourist experience in Egypt-especially with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum-visits to the museum will be organised by the museum administration through advance booking, particularly given the high demand to visit it. This is in line with the ministry's keenness to develop the services offered within Egyptian museums in general and to enhance the efficiency of managing the movement of Egyptian and foreign visitors inside the Grand Egyptian Museum.

As part of the ministry's efforts to promote tourism and attract more visitors, Fathy pointed to a number of initiatives being undertaken with relevant ministries and bodies, including the participation of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion in the 2025 Trip.com Global Partners Summit in Turkey.

He explained that this participation forms part of the authority's promotional plan targeting the principal markets that send tourists to Egypt as well as those that are major outbound tourism markets globally, including the People's Republic of China. He noted that, as a result of effective promotional activities carried out by the authority in cooperation with Trip.com in the Chinese market, the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion received, at this summit, the Global Partner - Destination of the Year for Strategic Partnership award, reflecting its advanced efforts in this regard.
