PM: SCA Has Nothing to Do with SCZone Investment Contracts

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli emphasized that the Suez Canal waterway is not involved in any investment contracts aimed at developing the industrial zones surrounding the canal.According to State Information Service Egypt, these contracts are intended to establish new factories, create tens of thousands of jobs for Egyptians, and contribute to the growth of the national economy. Madbouli made these remarks during a press conference following the government's weekly meeting on Wednesday.Madbouli clarified the distinct roles of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), which manages the canal operations, and the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), which focuses on development projects along the canal. He highlighted that these projects aim to establish industrial, service, and logistical zones to attract both local and international investments, facilitating job creation and boosting exports. The Prime Minister also noted that the government is actively working to stimulate private inv estments, both local and foreign, to maximize the potential of the industrial and investment zones on both sides of this strategic waterway. Recently, the government signed a usufruct contract with an industrial developer to provide necessary facilities and infrastructure for prospective investments in the area. This region will be divided into separate industrial zones to attract international investors.
