Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed a major redevelopment plan for Nazlet el Semman, aimed at turning the area next to the Giza Pyramids into an integrated tourism and cultural destination linked to the Pyramids complex and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly emphasized that developing areas surrounding the Pyramids is a crucial component of Egypt's tourism strategy. The Nazlet el Semman project is designed to enhance tourism and hotel services, upgrade infrastructure, and attract more domestic and international visitors. This initiative is part of a broader development vision for the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids.

Project consultant Mohamed el Khatib stated that the 2030 vision aims to integrate Nazlet el Semman into the overall Pyramids visitor experience while preserving the local community and safeguarding the archaeological and visual integrity of the site. The plan endeavors to balance archaeological protection, tourism development, and resident needs, with the local community actively participating in the redevelopment process.

The proposed plan includes the development of hotels and local guesthouses, restaurants, markets, visitor plazas, cultural venues, and craft workshops. Public spaces will be utilized for cultural events and performances, with improvements to transport and connections across the area, including pedestrian and cycling routes. Additionally, the plans encompass schools, health centers, and other community services.

El Khatib further noted that the redevelopment aims to enhance the urban environment and infrastructure while creating tourism-related jobs and business opportunities for residents. Environmental measures include waste management and recycling, tree planting, green corridors, and the utilization of solar energy for public facilities.

The project will involve collaboration among the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry, Housing Ministry, Giza Governorate, and other government bodies, alongside residents, civil society organizations, and the private sector. Finally, Madbouly highlighted that the broader development around the Pyramids seeks to optimize the area's tourism potential and strengthen its position as one of Egypt's primary destinations for international visitors.
