Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Saturday inspected five healthcare projects with a total investment cost surpassing EGP 25 billion.

According to State Information Service Egypt, in a press conference following field visits to healthcare facilities in Cairo and Giza governorates, Madbouli emphasized that the visit underscores that health and education remain top government priorities. He noted that major upgrades are underway in Cairo and Giza despite both governorates being scheduled for later phases of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS).

Madbouli added that the facilities visited are expected to be finalized this year or early next year and will then be integrated into the insurance system following accreditation. "Development work is being carried out while hospitals remain operational, making the process more complex than building new facilities," Madbouli stated.

The projects include the redevelopment of Dar El Salam Oncology Hospital in partnership with Gustave Roussy, the construction of Bolak Abu El-Ela Hospital, and the transformation of the Nasser Institute into a medical city that accommodates up to 1,700 beds. The tour also included Om El-Masryeen Hospital and the almost completed Bolak El-Dakrour Hospital, which is equipped in line with the latest international standards and supported by trained medical teams providing round-the-clock care.

Madbouli remarked that the projects aim to rapidly expand access to advanced healthcare within the universal health insurance framework. He added that once operational, they will markedly improve medical services for citizens across Egypt.
