PM: Healthcare Investment Is Top State Priority

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that investment in Egypt's healthcare system is no longer a purely service-based objective but a top national priority, as the government adopts a comprehensive reform of medical services across the country.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli made the remarks after an inspection tour on Saturday of healthcare projects in Cairo and Giza, including Bolak El-Dakrour General Hospital, as part of efforts to monitor progress on the ground and ensure the quality of services provided to citizens.

He said the visit was aimed at closely monitoring progress in the healthcare sector, which he described as a cornerstone of building human capital and ensuring a decent standard of living for citizens, in line with presidential directives to accelerate development and upgrade medical facilities and staff performance.

The Premier added that the government is pursuing structural reform to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of the healthcare system and to provide services that meet public expectations.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said that the strategy combines expanded public health initiatives with faster digital transformation, while focusing on human resources and infrastructure to support universal health coverage.

Abdel Ghaffar added that Bolak El-Dakrour General Hospital is nearing completion, with a 97% execution rate and total investments exceeding EGP 1.2 billion.

The hospital is expected to serve nearly three million citizens and includes inpatient beds, intensive care units, neonatal incubators, operating rooms, dialysis units, outpatient clinics, and advanced diagnostic services.

Madbouli directed that the remaining work be completed to the highest quality standards and that the hospital begin operating at full capacity before the start of the holy month of Ramadan, stressing that the true measure of success lies in the quality of care provided to citizens.
