PM Follows Up on Implementation of El-Sisi’s Directives to Develop Egyptian Media System

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly asserted on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, that he is following up the implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, issued during his speech at the opening of the State Strategic Command Headquarters, regarding the development of Egypt's media system and the promotion of objective media dialogue, in a way that contributes to building informed public awareness of various national issues. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the National Press Authority Abdel Sadek el Shorbagi, and Chairman of the National Media Authority Ahmed el Muslimani.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly said that the directives underscore the importance of allowing professional and responsible media dialogue based on presenting diverse opinions and viewpoints within a framework of mutual respect and commitment to national principles. He added that such dialogue enriches public discussion, strengthens social awareness, and enhances the ability of media outlets to serve national and citizen-related issues.

Madbouly pointed to the previous directives of the president to form a main committee tasked with developing Egypt's media sector and preparing a comprehensive roadmap for its advancement. The committee, headed by Abdel Aziz, issued a number of important recommendations that will be implemented in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Madbouly added that Rashwan has a comprehensive vision for developing the media sector and is continuously coordinating with various media bodies and institutions to address existing challenges. He also referred to meetings held with heads of media authorities to follow up efforts to settle debts and address financial conditions, contributing to the financial sustainability of these institutions and enabling them to better fulfill their missions.

He stressed the importance of proper preparations for the conference on developing Egyptian media, which President Sisi directed to be held in December, ensuring that it produces outcomes and decisions that help advance the Egyptian media system and keep pace with regional and international developments in the sector.

For his part, Rashwan reviewed the implementation plans for the president's directives, praising the decision to hold a national media dialogue conference in December as a comprehensive platform to discuss various issues related to media development and enhance broad participation among concerned parties. Meanwhile, Abdel Aziz said that the state gave significant attention to media development in recent years. He noted that the national dialogue included extensive discussions on challenges facing the media sector.

Meanwhile, Shorbagi expressed his appreciation for the political leadership's interest in media development and its continued follow-up of the sector, saying this reflects the state's recognition of the media's role in building public awareness and supporting development efforts. For his part, Muslimani reviewed the ongoing efforts to develop the authority's work in addition to addressing several longstanding challenges before the annual media conference slated for December.
