Petroleum Minister Reviews Implementation of Egypt’s Largest Airborne Mineral Survey

Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with head of the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority Yasser Ramadan and members of the Authority's board to discuss the implementation of a nationwide comprehensive geophysical airborne survey of minerals in Egypt planned for this year.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting also reviewed progress on the planned launch of an integrated digital platform for mining investment in Egypt.

In a ministry statement on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Badawi praised the Cabinet's approval for the authority to contract X-Calibur to carry out the survey across the country. He described the project as one of the most important initiatives for 2026, highlighting its role in identifying critical minerals and rare elements essential for a range of industries.

The minister underlined that the success of this national project depends on coordinated efforts among all relevant authorities to monitor implementation and ensure adherence to timelines. He added that it is also crucial to achieve project objectives and maximize the use of the data and findings generated.
