Cairo: The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) announced on Sunday, September 13, 2026, that a total of 230,000 tons of food products were exported over the past week. This impressive volume was shipped through 3,700 export consignments handled by 1,424 exporting companies, covering approximately 720 distinct food product categories, including vegetables, fruits, and other food items.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the NFSA's 34th weekly report for 2026, which covers the period from September 5 to 11, detailed the export of 37 vegetable categories, amounting to 50,000 tons. Among these, potatoes were the top export with 18,000 tons, followed by onions at 14,000 tons, and beans at 5,000 tons.

Additionally, the report noted that 30 categories of fruits were exported, totaling 30,000 tons. Mangoes led the fruit exports with 8,000 tons, while strawberries and pomegranates followed with 7,000 tons and 5,000 tons, respectively.

The NFSA highlighted that the primary destinations for these exports were Sudan, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, with Lebanon and Italy also featuring prominently among the 163 importing countries. Safaga Port handled the most export consignments during the week, totaling 665, followed by Alexandria Port with 545, and Damietta Port with 455 consignments.
