Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gamblat is heading to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, August 31, 2026, to participate in the first 'Balkan Shield - Defence Industry Expo and Summit 2026,' scheduled to take place in Sarajevo on September 1-4.According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen international cooperation across various industrial and technological fields and build effective partnerships with representatives of brotherly and friendly countries, as a key pillar for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.Gamblat said his participation in the exhibition follows an invitation from Bosnia and Herzegovina's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Zukan Helez, reflecting both sides' keenness to enhance cooperation across various fields, particularly defense industries. He expressed his appreciation for the strong cooperative relations between Egypt and Bos nia and Herzegovina, which are based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation.He stressed the two countries' leaderships' commitment to strengthening bilateral partnership and expanding it in ways that serve common interests and contribute to development and stability. The minister explained that the 'First Balkan Shield' exhibition provides an opportunity to exchange expertise and learn about the latest manufacturing technologies. It also serves as a global platform bringing together a large number of leaders, decision-makers, senior officials and defense industry experts from around the world to discuss the development of industrial technologies, solutions, and security and defense strategies capable of addressing the evolving challenges facing the world.He added that the pavilion of the ministry of military production at the exhibition will showcase models of its products, including various weapons, ammunition, equipment and advanced defense systems manufactured by the ministry's affiliated compa nies in accordance with the latest global technologies. During the exhibition, the minister is scheduled to hold meetings and discussions with a number of prominent figures and heads of participating companies. He will also visit the pavilions of entities representing various countries to learn about the latest manufacturing technologies.The 'First Balkan Shield - Defense Industry Expo and Summit 2026' is the first specialized defense and security exhibition to be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It aims to consolidate Sarajevo's position as a regional hub for defense industry, innovation, and international cooperation.
