Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam reviewed progress on the ministry's digital transformation initiatives aiming at improving water resources management, as part of the second-generation Water System 2.0 strategy.According to State Information Service Egypt, Sewilam emphasized the centrality of expanding digital technologies in the ministry's efforts to build a modern, technology-driven institutional framework. This initiative is aimed at enhancing water governance, improving resource efficiency, and delivering higher-quality services to citizens and investors.He outlined several key digital projects, such as the implementation of digital twins for irrigation canals and networks, the application of artificial intelligence and real-time telemetry systems for water distribution, the digitization of private irrigation channels, and the creation of digital platforms and decision-support systems.The minister instructed officials to speed up the rollout of digital transformation pr ojects, enhance integration among databases and information systems, and continue developing staff capabilities. These measures are intended to support data-driven decision-making, optimize water use, and achieve the objectives of the Water System 2.0 initiative.
