Interior Minister Highlights Egypt’s National Unity and Security Achievements

Cairo: Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq stated that history is recording admirable national moments that have established the foundations of a new republic that will not accept any infringement on its sovereignty or security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, in his speech at a ceremony marking the 74th anniversary of Police Day, attended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Tawfiq highlighted that Egypt overcame major challenges through national unity behind its leadership, reinforcing stability and resilience. He pointed to the heroic Battle of Ismailia 74 years ago as a defining symbol of the strong bond between the police and the Egyptian people.

Tawfiq further explained that Egypt's security approach is built on early risk assessment and preemptive action, supported by scientific planning and modern technology, to counter evolving crime patterns. He noted continued efforts to confront terrorism and misinformation campaigns, adding that security services dismantled hostile networks and seized assets worth about EGP 2.9 billion over the past year.

Additionally, the Interior Ministry intensified its action against organized crime, particularly drug trafficking. The ministry successfully seized narcotics worth about EGP 27 billion and prevented the transit of synthetic drugs with an estimated value of EGP 34 billion in target markets, while also combating related money laundering activities.

The minister also cited progress in combating illegal migration through tighter border controls and early detection of smuggling routes, efforts that have received international recognition.

Moreover, Tawfiq emphasized the expansion of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to counter cybercrime and criminal networks, while enhancing public services through increased access points and digital platforms. He highlighted the success of rehabilitation centers, including education programs that supported inmate reintegration, which have garnered international recognition for Egypt's model.

Tawfiq concluded his remarks by saluting police officers and honoring the memory of fallen members of the police and armed forces, reaffirming the continued readiness and sacrifice needed to protect Egypt's security and achievements.
